This includes the typed speech outline. Follow the steps below to type your outline on the computers in the library.
1. Open Microsoft Word
2. Choose "new" or "blank" document
3. Choose a font: Times New Roman, Arial and Tahoma are the only fonts accepted
4. Font size is 12 point
5. Create a header.
- Click on the "view" tab
- Choose "header/footer"
- Place the header to the left
- Your first and last name belong on the first line, the assignment (speech outline) belongs on the second line, the date that the assignment is due (June 1, 2007) belongs on the third line and the teacher's last name and period belong on the fourth line (Bryant, AM/PM)
7. Now, you are ready to type.
- Make a capital I, place a period ( . ) after it: I.
- Push the space bar twice
- Type your introduction word-for-word as it appears on your ough draft
- Make 2 capital I's
- Place a period after it (II.)
- Record your topic #1 (II. Climate)
10. Push the return/enter key ONCE
- Push the TAB key
- Type a capital letter A
- Place a period after it (A.)
- Record fact #1 (A. Cool winters)
12. Time to SAVE! File>save
13. Push return/enter TWICE.
- Create III.
- Record topic #2
- Repeat steps 10 & 11
- Create IV.
- Record topic #3
- Repeat steps 10 &11
16. Push Return/Enter TWICE
- Create V.
- Record your conclusion
