IFCC: Meeting Challenges (a simulation)

For the next 2 weeks students will prepare for the IFCC (International Federation of Characters Conference).  The theme of this year's conference is meeting challenges.

The conference will take place over 2 periods in class next week (right now it is scheduled for AM students May 4th during 2nd and 3rd periods, and for PM students May 5th during 4th and 5th periods).

Students will hear a featured speaker and then rotate through 6 stations or "break out sessions" these sessions include:
  1. Challenges your character faced
  2. Personality traits
  3. Artifact
  4. Recommendation
  5. Theme summary and costume
  6. Added chapter
To prepare for the IFCC students are to fill out their 3 page registration packet (this is white and was given to students in class on Monday, April 26th).  To help students prepare the packet has been broken into pieces with individual deadlines. These deadlines are listed below:
  • Due April 27th: #1 Adjectives that describe you
  • Due April 28th: #2 personality trait passage and #4a challenges
  • Due April 29th: #4b personality trait challenge and #4c object
  • Due April 30th: #3 theme summary and #4d reccommendation
  • Due May 3rd: Added chapter
  • Due at the end of the period May 3: Registration form
  • Due at the end of the period May 3: Name tag
Students will have time to complete these items in class the day before they are due, and are encouraged to stay on track (this means, not to work ahead), except for the added chapter which should be done entirely at home.

Check the blog for more updates! I look forward to a fun and challenging IFCC!!

Latin America Map

and the winners are...

Darth Tater has chosen one presentation in the morning and one in the afternoon and those responsible will be rewarded on Tuesday, April 13th.

Great work done by all students, Darth Tater was truly impressed with the amount of knowledge and hard work that came through in this project. It was very difficult to choose just one group per class.

AM CORE:
Grand Prize:Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and Labrador (Ayla and Camille)
Runner up: Quebec (Jose, Humberto and Baldemar)

PM CORE:
Grand Prize: Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and Labrador (Lindsay and Maddie)

Canada Presenations!

We have spent nearly a week in the computer lab working on our Canada presentations. These presentations are due on Tuesday! Here are some last minute reminders/tips:
  • Presentation must be at least 10 slides (title page, intro, geography, history, economy, wildlife, fun an trivia, general info, conclusion and credits)
  • Presentations will start on TUESDAY
  • Layout of the slide is very important (remember to have at least one picture on each slide, follow the style guidelines on the sheet you received on Mach 29th during class)
  • You can access your presentation at home (at least you should be able to)...just use the same username and password you used at school to log into your district Google account from the link at the top of this page
  • Remember to check your student email!!
  • Please email me if you have questions! I check my email A LOT and will respond as soon as possible to any questions or concerns that you may have.
Have fun!
