Trimester One is looooooooooong gone. Helllllloo Trimester 2

Ahoy.

Just wanted to give the loyal readers out there a heads up. Trimester 2 reading requirements are now posted over on the website. I know that you were dying to know what was going to happen with reading journals in the next trimester (or the Empire Strikes Back, as I like to call all good things with cliff hanger endings that fall between the beginning (tri one) and the end (tri 3).

Have a good weekend!

I'm here at school doing your grades and thinking about low snow levels tomorrow morning! Can't wait!

This week in CORE...Nov 26th - Nov 29th

hey hey, Trimester 1 is almost behind us! (woot-woot!)

Before you get too excited, realize that you do have one week of Tri one left, and boy will it be a rockin' one.

Monday students turned in the Types of Government chart and received new spelling words (test on Monday December 3rd btw.)

Tuesday we will get BARF #2 (due 12/14) and CE #3 (due 12/4). Tuesday is also the very last day for extra credit, late work, make-up work, missing work...pretty much the whole ballgame.

Wednesday we'll discuss culture and turn in our final READING LOG OF TRI 1 (again....woot! woot!)

Thursday we'll sort our spelling words, discuss culture, and relish in the fact that Tri one is done.

No school for STUDENTS on FRIDAY! It's probably a good time to get your room cleaned, rake the yard and butter up those parents before your report cards drop in next week to make your life either a) super awesome, or b) a time to clean and do chores. Only you control your school destiny (as they say, make it a great on or not...the choice is yours).

Happy last-week-of-November-and Tri-one!

Miss B's tip(s) of the week: wear your coat (it'll be cold), hope for snow (that would rock! but not this weekend or on Friday...think Thursday, or Wednesday), memorize your lunch code (prices are rising on Thursday and we are also getting a new computer system), be nice to your elders, and spread good cheer!

Ch Ch Ch CHANGES!

Same blog, new name.

1. Why?

Miss Bryant's Blog didn't have any charisma, spunk, or sassy-ness.

Bee-Rant has all of that and a whole lot more

2. What does Bee-Rant mean?

Well, I am Miss B. this is my blog for ranting (and raving). Also, Bee-Rant is what my mom's students call her...I like it, so I changed it.

3. How?

I have been trying to create a blog header/banner (that blue thing with the bee you see at the top of the page), but I couldn't find any free un-copyrighted bee clip art to use, so I decided to draw a bee, take a picture with my document camera and use Photoshop to make a banner. Voila! What do you think? Did you like the old way better?

enjoy.

BLOG ON!

This is what the bee looked like before I worked my magic.

This Week: 11/19 - 11/21

We're winding down both the trimester and the week (funny, since it is only Monday...but it feels like a Wednesday)

This week students will finish their How to Packet, which is due on Wednesday, November 21st. The packet will be collected as well as the rough draft of the How-To paragraph and the final typed copy.

On Tuesday, students will get new spelling words (the final spelling test of the trimester will be on Tuesday, November 27th)

In social studies, students are working on their Types of Government Chart, which is also due on Wednesday.

The last day for late work and extra credit this trimester is November 27th. At the end of the day on the 27th all MDF's will be pulled and no late work, makeup work or extra credit will be accepted. In preparation for the end of the trimester grades will be updated on Tuesday Nov 20th (after school) and will reflect both the BARF and Create a Continent. At that time, extra credit will be uploaded to the website (for students to complete if needed...see the EC policy on the Miss B website) and students will check their grades in class on Wednesday.

Have a fabulous short week, a wonderful Thanksgiving, and a fabulous Friday of shopping. I am sure I will blog at least once more before the week is out. Make it a great one!

How to Packet

Ahoy all.

Sorry I didn't get this week's calendar up (you can view the calendar for November over on the website. It is up to date through the end of the trimester)...short weeks are always busy ones.

I wanted to give parents (and students...if they have forgotten) an update on the How to Packet.
Currently in CORE, each student has received and is working on a packet entitled "How to Paragraph" This packet is due on November 21st.

Steps 1-5 are due tomorrow (at 8:15 for AM and at 11:45 for PM...this factors in a 30 minute work time before the deadline). At that time, students will edit their paragraphs on their own and then with a buddy.

On Monday and Tuesday, students will type their paragraphs in the computer lab, and on Wednesday they will share their paragraph and turn in their packet and final typed copy of the paragraph.

Hope this clear things up!

Happy writing!

-Miss B.

Spirit Week Recap

I had a great time last week dressing up with you guys. Tacky Day and Halloween were especially fun for me. I was happy to see so many of you participating. Here's a pic of your tackiest teacher 2007! Way to have school spirit: go wildcats!
