End of the Year Survey Results...
***Note: On many computers, the graphics will not show up. I am working on this, and apologize for the inconvenience!
Reflection is a big part of teaching AND learning. Everyone on the planet whether they are 4 or 104 has something that they can wake up each day and learn. One important lesson that I hope I have given you this year is that it is ok to make mistakes. As humans we are far from perfect. We will make mistakes. We can't avoid it. What we can do is look at our mistakes, analyze the series of events that brought us an unfavorable outcome and work hard to have a positive turn around, or a beneficial outcome the next time around. The end of the school year provides a ripe time for reflection; both for students and their teachers. I greatly appreciate the honesty that went in to the comments that I received on the end of the year surveys in both Core and Reading class. As I design my Core and Reading classes next year, I will keep these comments with me.
Below you can see some of the results. I thank each and every student that participated in these surveys, with your help I can move our class in a positive direction. I will be adding some of the written comments a little later...
What units of study did you like BEST?
What units of study did you like the LEAST?
What is your favorite way to "show" your learning?
I wish we could have done MORE
I wish we would have done LESS
I feel the school email system is...
I feel Miss Bryant's blog is...
I check Miss Bryant's blog...
How much have you learned in Core this year? (1 = nothing, 5 = A LOT)
How hard have you worked in Core class this year? (1 = it was easy, 5 = I have worked REALLY hard)
Does Miss B grade your work fairly? (1 = no, 5 = yes)
From the Reading survey...
How often do you read at home?
Does your Core teacher require you to read outside of class?
I liked Reading class (1 = worst class ever, 5 = looooved it)
What units did you like BEST?
What units did you like the LEAST?
I wish we could have read MORE...
How many books did you read this year (approx)?
I am a better reader this year than I was last year...

For your CE assignment, you will need to have an article (not a tv program or video) but if you are looking for a way to get started, you can watch student news and get an idea...then look for an article on one of topics you saw. If you need a great sight for actual articles, check out the Current Event section in the links above (under Miss B's Fav Links)
