Random Fact of the Day

Today (Nov 23) is National Eat-A-Cranberry Day

Some cranberry facts:
  • Cranberries are native to North America
  • There are 350-400 cranberries in a pound
  • Cranberries do not grow in water, but float, so marshes are flooded during harvest time
  • Native Americans used the cranberry as a symbol of peace
  • 2008's cranberry crop in Oregon was valued at over $36.6 million
  • Oregon is ranked 4th int he United States for cranberry production

PM- Verb Review
  • Read "If I were a Verb"
  • Listened to song about verbs (on your paper, record as many of the verbs as you can)...I can't find the exact song, but this video can be a substitute.

The blog is going to be changing this week.  Instead of giving you everything on Monday, I am going to do my best to recap each day as it happens in hopes to help those students that are home sick to stay up to date on what they missed.

New Spelling words today. Please record the following words onto your spelling practice sheet.  Words will be sorted on Thursday and the spelling test will take place on Friday.  These words tie in to our unit on Population and the Census that we are working on in Social Studies.
