Write a Twilight Valentine...win a Twilight prize!

Hey Twilighters! The Twilight Lexicon is hosting a Valentine writing contest! Check it out:

"In order to celebrate Valentines Day we thought we’d do a bit of a character love letter contest. Here’s how to enter:

  1. Write a love letter from one Twilight Saga character to another.
  2. You can write from either the male or female perspective in the following pairings:
    • Edward and Bella
    • Carlisle and Esme
    • Jasper and Alice
    • Emmett and Rosalie
  3. There is no minimum length, but the maximum length is 200 words.
  4. Each entry must be written letter style with a greeting and closing. The greeting (Dear Whoever) and the closing (Love Whoever) don’t count as part of the 200 words.
  5. The love letter may take place in any time period past, present, or future.
  6. The winner in each pairing (in other words 4 winners) will receive the item of their choice from the Twilight Lexicon Cafepress Shop.
  7. Send your entries to twilightlexiconcontest@gmail.com
  8. The subject of the email must have the pairing listed
  9. Any questions, post them on this entry because chances are someone else has they same question and the info could help them.
  10. Entries are due by 11:59 pm EST February 10, 2009."

This Week in Core: Jan 26 - Jan 30

Good Morning!

Glad that most of you made it to school today... with the calendar change I wasn't sure everyone would remember to be here today, and gone next Monday, February 2nd.

This week we're working on 2 major things in CORE.

In Language Arts, we will work on the district writing assessment and in Social Studies we will finish our Native American research projects. Native American presentations will begin on February 3rd!!

This week in Core: Jan 20th - Jan 24th

I hope that you enjoyed your 3 day weekend! It was nice to have 3 days of sunshine (even if it was cold sunshine)!

Here is a look at what is coming your way this week in CORE:

Language Arts:
Next week we will begin our district writing assessment...which means that this week is filled with tips, tricks, and practice. Every day will be grammar day this week!
Tuesday: new spelling words, DOL
Wednesday: DOL, writing practice
Thursday: DOL, spelling sort it
Friday: DOL, spelling test, fun write

Social Studies:
Last week students took did a pre-assessment on their knowledge of Native Americans. Based on the results of this pre-assessment, the Native American unit will be taught as scheduled and will begin on Wednesday.
Tuesday: final time line
Wednesday: Intro to Native Americans
Thursday: Native American slides
Friday: finish slides, begin Native American research project.
