Hey all.

Wanted to let parents and students know that my computer has decided to fry itself internally and that currently, my gradebook and all documents cannot be reached. I apologize for he inconvenience that this may be causing, but please know that as soon as I get my computer back up and running, you will see a grade post update.

Thanks for the patience.

This Week in Core: April 6 - April 10

Ahoy friends,

I survived jury duty yesterday and now that I am back we are ready to begin our study of Latin America!!

We'll begin today by looking at the three sections of Latin America (Middle America, Caribbean, and South America). We'll also be discussing the important waterways and landforms that make up these regions. Later this week, we'll be focused on the climate, vegetation and natural resources of Latin America before moving to the ancient cultures of the region next week!

In LA, we are finishing our book box presentations (they've been AWESOME thus far). We're also reviewing basic grammar, working on DOL and continuing to read 150 minutes per week at home! Currently all students in my core class should have a general fiction book checkout out from the library and be reading it at home. This book must be completed by April 2oth.

Reminders:
1. Parent-teacher conferences are this week (Wed, April 8) as well as next week (Wed, April 15) from 3:45-7:30pm in teacher classrooms
2. Read, read, read! Just because we aren't turning in reading logs, does not mean that the reading has stopped!!!
3. Next week is Doernbecher week here at school. Please make arrangements to come to the Doernbecher dance on Friday, April 17th here at school from 7-9pm. Proceeds will benefit Doernbecher!
4. The Laser Tag trip is this Wednesday, April 8th for 6th graders.

Have a great week! Enjoy the sunshine and the heat today because tomorrow we'll get a reality check.

Well kiddos, we're on the downward slope to the end of the year (that's right, just 2 months and 13 days until Summer break)!

This week in core, we are finishing our Canada PowerPoint presentations. These are due on Tuesday, March 31st! Presentations will begin on March 31st. Maps are also due on March 31st.

On Wednesday, April 1st we'll begin our study of Latin America with a mapping activity.

On Friday, book boxes/book bags are due! Presentations will be 3-5 minutes long and all objects must be school appropriate.

Hope that you had a fabulous spring break. Have a grand week! Aztec, Inca and Maya are coming our way soon, and I can't wait!

This week: say goodbye to Trimester #2!

Wow-ee-wow-wow! Can you believe that 2nd trimester is almost over! That means we have only 13 weeks of school remaining (counting this week of course)! But wait! We have so many things left to teach each other before we bid adieu on June 13th.

For our last week of the trimester, we will focus on our Canada projects. This week will be maps, and research with next week focused on putting it all together in one neat convenient computer presentation package.

In addition to our Canada presentations, we'll be writing trimester 2 reflections, having grammar day activities on Wednesday and of course a couple more Canada map quizzes!

Tuesday, March 10th is the last day for late work, missing work, make-up work and extra credit so get those papers in in in!!

No school on Friday!! :)

Have a great week!

Remember! Only 8 days of class until SPRING BREAK (not counting today of course, because the school day is over already)!
