Ahoy friends,
I survived jury duty yesterday and now that I am back we are ready to begin our study of Latin America!!
We'll begin today by looking at the three sections of Latin America (Middle America, Caribbean, and South America). We'll also be discussing the important waterways and landforms that make up these regions. Later this week, we'll be focused on the climate, vegetation and natural resources of Latin America before moving to the ancient cultures of the region next week!
In LA, we are finishing our book box presentations (they've been AWESOME thus far). We're also reviewing basic grammar, working on DOL and continuing to read 150 minutes per week at home! Currently all students in my core class should have a general fiction book checkout out from the library and be reading it at home. This book must be completed by April 2oth.
Reminders:
1. Parent-teacher conferences are this week (Wed, April 8) as well as next week (Wed, April 15) from 3:45-7:30pm in teacher classrooms
2. Read, read, read! Just because we aren't turning in reading logs, does not mean that the reading has stopped!!!
3. Next week is Doernbecher week here at school. Please make arrangements to come to the Doernbecher dance on Friday, April 17th here at school from 7-9pm. Proceeds will benefit Doernbecher!
4. The Laser Tag trip is this Wednesday, April 8th for 6th graders.
Have a great week! Enjoy the sunshine and the heat today because tomorrow we'll get a reality check.
-Miss B
