This Week in Core: Feb 28 - March 4



1. Book Logs were passed out on Friday and are due on March 29th. Please keep your book log with you at all times that you are reading (as you are supposed to be filling it out as you read!). If you have any questions or need another copy please ASK!

2. BARF (Book Analysis and Review Form) is due Tuesday. If you are having trouble with the story arc, you can look in the Write Source book (page 139) for assistance.

3. Tuesday we will have our Viking Quiz. Use your ABCdery (from Monday) to study!

Helluland: the name given to one of the three lands discovered by Leif Eriksson around 1000 AD on the North Atlantic coast of North America.

knarr: a type of Norse merchant ship famously used by the Vikings

Markland: name given to a part of shoreline in Labrador, Canada, named by Leif Eriksson when he landed in North America.

Nordic: The Nordic countries make up a region in Northern Europe and the North Atlantic which consists of Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden

Norse: Scandinavian population of the period from the late 8th century to the 11th century

Vinand: the name given to an area of North America by the Norsemen, about the year 1000 CE.
