This week in Core we are discovering the awesome world of the Vikings!

Hey, that rhymes!

In LA land, we've been booted from the computer lab once again due to testing which means that legend final drafts are being either hand written in class or typed at home. If you type the legend at home you must bring it with you to class on Friday when it is due (printer and computer problems are not excuses for extra days). On Friday we will share our legends and turn them in along with legend book jackets.

Have a great week!

This week in Core: Feb 9 - Feb 13th

In LA we continue our legend editing and will begin our Legend Book Jacket (due Friday). We will sail to the library next week to type legends and then end next week with a campfire activity where we will share our legends with the class.

In SS we are heading to our neighbor to the North: CANADA. We begin the week with some intro questions and then begin our mapping assignment (due Friday). On Friday (the day before Valentine's Day and Oregon's 150 birthday) we will write valentines to our lovely state.

Have a great week,
I'm still trying to kick this nasty cold, I apologize for the late post.

This Week in Core: Feb 3 - Feb 6

Whew! Our writing assessment days are FINALLY behind us!!

This week we are focusing on Native Americans in both Social Studies and Language Arts:

In Language Arts, students are writing their very own Native American myth/legend that explains how or why something came to be. Students need to focus their legend in one of the 8 geographical regions that we have studied, and all legends must include four aspects of Native American culture. Legend rough draft work time will be Wednesday and Thursday in class with the rough draft due Friday. On Friday we will spend some time revising and editing.

In Social Studies, the research team project is due on Thursday! Students will have Tuesday and Wednesday to finish posters and practice presentations. Presentations will take place Thursday and Friday and our quiz-ito will occur on Monday.

Have a great week!

Write a Twilight Valentine and get not only a chance at a Twilight prize, but also some extra credit in LA...see earlier posts for all the details!
